is the 52nd mentor to join the FMI Emerge community. Amaris brings key expertise as a registered dietitian with a keen understanding of nutrition research and food policy as it relates to the food industry. Her experience includes defining and enhancing well-being priorities and strategies within healthcare systems, college campuses and large convenience store chains to meet the changing needs of clientele.
Currently, Amaris serves as the resident nutrition expert for the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), a national nonprofit dedicated to leveraging the power of the private sector to bring lasting, systemic changes that improve the nation’s food supply and increase physical activity. Since its founding in 2010 in coordination with – but apart from – First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative, PHA has partnered with more than 225 companies, including Mars Food U.S., Hyatt Hotels and the National Association of Convenience Stores. In her role, Amaris brokers partnerships to transform the marketplace via commitments to reformulate, innovate and market healthier options, and accelerate the development and distribution of better-for-you products. Prior to joining PHA, she was a senior account executive at Porter Novelli, a global public relations agency where she executed nutrition communications strategies for a number of food boards and brands, including the Almond Board of California, NatureMade Vitamins and SOYJOY bars.
Amaris holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from the Florida State University. She is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and serves as communications chair for the Food and Culinary Professionals Dietetic Practice Group.
